Twin Lizzy News

12. 04. 08.

Thanks to everyone that came to see the band at the Regent Hotel in Doncaster the other night. First time in Doncaster for Twin Lizzy. Special thanks for all the great comments from you guys - see reviews / comments page. The lads especially enjoyed your remarks John Wilson. We can only put an edited version on the website but much appreciated mate. Hopefully we shall be back in Donny before too long, so :-

Until the next time !!!

Today we have finally put some music on the website. Click SOUNDS on the main menu to go to the download page. Once there click "TWIN LIZZY - Rough n ready"

Because of the constraints of time and money etc. We have been hard pressed to make any decent quality recordings of the band so far. The "Rough n ready" mix that you will hear is from a recent live performance. The recording was taken straight off the mixing desk with no processing what so ever. The problem with this type of recording is that the desk is set up to provide the best possible sound mix for the room on the night. For example if the Hi Hat on the drum kit isn't very loud at the back of the room then we turn it up on the desk until it sounds right - in the room. The bass guitar sound from Roger's rig is very loud and powerful, so we put very little of it through the desk at all. The final mix on the night sounds good "in the room".

This all means that levels on the recording are not set for a very good playback mix. The bass guitar isn't loud enough. the cymbals are too loud, the guitars are not as balanced as they should be, etc. etc.

Despite all of the above we have decided to put out edited samples of some of the songs. We feel that the "rough n ready" mix at least give a flavour of how TWIN LIZZY play live.

As soon as we are able we will put together some decent quality recordings and get them onto the site. We need to do this in order to show TWIN LIZZY in the best possible light and also to pay proper tribute to the fantastic music of PHIL LYNOTT.

"The Springhead" Hull. What a great night! Thanks to everyone who came along and joined in the fun. I'd especially like to thank all of you that have sent us your kind comments via this website. As I have said before - a great gig does not happen because of the band alone. It's down to the audience as well. I know the lads in the band all agree that you guys on Friday were fantastic. The right vibe from the crowd always makes Twin Lizzy play better. Thankyou.

Which brings me to the "Dusty Miller" on Saturday. What can I say? Another crowd full of people who know how to rock! The energy in that place could have powered a small town for 48 hours. Thanks again the Miller Gang and as my friend at the front often says "COME ON" !!!   As for the girl who kept climbing onto the stage - Priceless!  I've never seen Roger look so nervous.  : - )

Here's to the next time.

23.01.2008

Unfortunately Sunday's gig (27th Jan)  at Baileys Live in Grimsby has been cancelled.
The venue has  cancelled all gigs for January and February.
Hopefully We'll  be back there soon, as we really enjoyed playing there, and at the moment, we have a gig booked for May.
If you want to see us in Grimsby before May, we are at the Yardbirds in March :-)

21. 11. 2007.

We would like to thank the guys at the Yardbirds for being so hospitable on Sunday. The Lincolnshire Warlocks have a really fantastic set up at the club and Twin Lizzy wish them all the best and every success in the future. For anyone that hasn't been to the Yardbirds yet it's a must ! Great club, great atmosphere, loads of good bands booked and run by people who really care about what they are doing. If you live in or around Grimsby or even further a field, go try the Yardbirds for a great rock night out.

Cheers guys, see you all again soon.

Great gig at the Sturdy Lads the other night. We would like to thank everyone who came along and made it such a great night for the band - Thankyou !!!
Special mention to the guys n gals that travelled all the way from Grimsby to be there. It was great to see you and chat after the set. We are looking forward to seeing you all again at the Yardbirds in a few weeks time.

After receiving lots of enquiries regarding what equipment we use on stage, I'm going to put together a GEAR PAGE. It will be a while before I can put it all together but I thought some of you guys would like to see some tech. info. plus pics of guitars, gear etc. Watch this space as they say.

No gigs next weekend. Steve T. celebrates his 21st birthday with a SAGA holidays trip to Shackletons comfy chairs. If anyone want's to send congratulations via the website his Bday is actually on the 31st Oct.

Well that's about it for now. We are looking forward to seeing as many of you as can make it to " Cert 18 " in York on November 9th.

"Until the next time"

Sunday  7th October.

Baileys Live

Great gig at Baileys Live Last night. We really do enjoy playing in Grimsby. We played  The Yardbirds recently and that was a great night too. Lets face it ! At the end of the day it's the audience that make the difference between a good gig and a fantastic gig. The band would like to thank everyone at Baileys last night. The staff were very friendly and helpful and that's a big bonus too. As for the audience - what a great crowd !!! You guys really know how to have a good time. Thanks to everyone that had such nice things to say to us after the gig. A special thanks to Bob and Jo. Glad you enjoyed it so much and we are really grateful for your comments. Looking forwards to seeing you again at the Yardbirds in a months time.

Until the next time.
All the very best,
Twin Lizzy.

Whitefire

Check out this band. They come from the York area and they supported us at The Gasworks. They are a five piece guitar band (excellent lead work) playing all their own material which is mainly blues based gutsy rock. The band features a superb lead vocalist who sounds like someone twice his age and experience. The entire band are still in their late teens and if their performance on Saturday was anything to go by then they should have a very bright future.

Whitefire's website

That’s it for now, see you soon,

Steve.
