Twin Lizzy

 Twin Lizzy @ The Springhead

Reviewer. John Finney, THIN LIZZY fan.

I went to the Springhead to check out Twin Lizzy. I have been a THIN LIZZY fan for longer than I can remember and having seen quite a few Lizzy tribute bands over the years I have got used to being a little disappointed. This time though not a bit of it. I knew as soon as I walked into the place that this lot were a bit special. There was already an atmosphere in the room and you could sense that the crowd were up for it. The first thing that hits you when you see the stage is the equipment. No tiny combo amps on boxes for these boys. Wall to wall Marshall's !!!  You know they ain't playing at it. Then the lights went down, smoke and searchlights to the sound of sirens, a shout of "Are you ready" and the band are into it. These guys are good. I mean they can really play. All the hits were there - Jailbreak, Dancing, Thunder and Lightning. Plus some less well known numbers - Angel from the coast for example. The lead singer sounds unbelievably close to Phil Lynott. The two guitarists know their stuff and replicate the sounds brilliantly. As for the drummer, I had to go and shake his hand afterwards. Close your eyes and it's Brian Downey on stage. This guy really is the biz! That goes for the whole band. A great gig. The entire audience singing Whisky in the Jar. Thanks again guys for a fantastic Lizzy evening.
